Sony video camera black lcd on recording TRV265E?

I decide to use again after several month my Sony TRV265E, only to find out that I get a Black screen in camera mode. All other function including play back works, including sound on recordings. Looking on the web has happen in America, as lot of people had this problem and force Sony to take action, so in America Sony is fixing the problem for free. How do I convince Sony UK to do the same? As it is out of garantees and been hardly used.Any advice appreciated.
