Should I just put it out with the trash? What if one of the neighbors sees the box and thinks it is a nice TV and decides to break into all the apartments one by one until he finds it and steals it. Or am I being too paranoid?

If you live in a bad part of town… You have the right idea! I suggest folding it down carefully, slicing it up into squares, and just throwing it out. Or, if there's a dumpster nearby, like behind a store, just chuck it in there.
