what is the best for all round quality LCD or Plasma?

Answer:
Despite some of the answers here, 63% of the population like plasma televisions.

Answer:
plasma.

if you look at an LCD from the wrong angle then everything gets too brightor dark meaning that really an LCD can only be watched properly by about two people at a time as long as they’re sitting right beside eachother at the right viewing angle.

And as far as the still image thing goes it takes ages on most models for an image to get “burnt” onto the screeand even if it does you can just run a whitewash and the screen is as good as new.

plus plasmas are superior for watching sports, films and playing games as they keep up with speed much better than LCD

and about 1 in each 3 LCD tvs get broken pixils which is where u se little blue dots on the screen constantly no matter what you watch

(granted they're little but still)

ad also plasma as far better colour depth than LCD

and its Cheaper

the only thing LCD actually has over plasma is that plasmas last about 7-8 years were as LCDs last much longer

Answer:
The groupthink mentality will always state LCD. However, there’s a massive amount of misinformation about both types of panel.

Plasma will provide you with a noticeably superior picture, but you will need to keep it in a dark space to take advantage of that, as its self-luminant panel is much darker than an LCD's backlit panel. However, that also means deeper blacks. It has the potential for burn-in, yes, but that has been much reduced in the recent generations to the point where it's not much more susceptible than a late '80s CRT. Most of what people think is burn-in is actually image retention, a temporary issue that also affects LCDs.

LCD is burn-in proof, but is also very susceptible to vertical or horizontal line failures which can knock out an entire row of pixels. They generally have poorer saturation and shallower blacks, as a consequence of their higher brightness allowing them to be used in well-lit rooms. They consume anywhere from two-thirds to half as much power as an equivalent-size plasma panel.

Both have roughly equivalent lifespans, approximately 60,000 hours until the panel degrades to half of its original brightness. Just go buy whatever looks better to you, keeping in mind that you can't use a plasma as a Personal computer monitor or leave game HUDs, tickers, etc. stationary for hours on end. And purchase an extended warranty (manufacturer's if you can) on it, regardless of type, because these things are finicky as well as costly.

Answer:
Plasma.

Image burn on plasmas is a thing of the past, new models do not suffer from it and both LCD and plasmas last about the same 60,000hrs.

In a bright room go for a LCD

in a dark room Plasma

Anything up to 42in then there's not allot of difference but overall the plasma is still superior. If your going above 42in then defiantly get a plasma, LCD are not up too the job.

Answer:
my advice to you : go for LCD

reasons:

very light and wall mountable

very economical, consume less current than plasmas

have more life than plasmas, last longer

no reflection from the screen

no image burn-in or ghosting like the plasmas

all in all, you get all the HD massive screen experience in a great piece of art that we call 'LCD TV'

ok, all this talk above is to convince you to purchase an LCD, go for LCD. go on LCD !!! plasma down down !!

Answer:
LCD is the most popular. I like LCD as there is no “break in” period where you have to do things to keep them from getting burn in. And Plasmas use way more energy than LCD and run much hotter and weight much more.

Get a Samsung LCD and you’ll enjoy it very much.

Answer:
LCD is my preference. Plasmas look nice and sharp, but for overall quality LCD are a superior option. LCD's have a longer life and dont often burn images and do project as much heat. Plasmas tend to do all the said things and are usually more pricey.

Hope this helps :D
