My eyes hurt! I've tried updating drivers, changing resolution, brightness and contrast, but can't get a screen I'm comfortable with! Any ideas?

Answer:
this could be as simple as a refresh rate issue. some people are known to get sick with a high refresh rate or a low refresh rate try it out.

you can change the setting by, right clicking on your empty desktop somewhere properties settings tab advanced monitor tab and change it through the drop down. try this hope it helps.

hmmm ok im taking that you have a large flat tv and it has been connected to your pc or laptop right?

how have you connected the tv to the laptop/desktop personal? the superior way to do it is by using a VGA connector like on the end of your monitor cable…you can get double ended one fromany good computer store..

secondly you will have to find out what’s the ideal screen resolution for your TV…for example if your pc/laptop is set to 600×800 and your tv is set to 900×1200 you’ll get a weird screen, but thats just sizing and can be altered if you find the output of your screen on your pc!…do this by right clicking on your desktop and finding display properties..this should tell you what its at.!!

if your using vista then do look at the help pages in windows..it can help you. Our ADVENT laptop has a display manager which lets you tell the laptop to adjust for a tv.

also we’re lucky that our tv has a Personal computer setting which has a default resolution setting…look at your tvs manual..or look on the internet for a guide for your tv! either way you must set the resolutions the same, as well as having a decent connection cable, a easy red white and yellow cable probably wont suffice!

good luck

Answer:
Get the proper cable, it's got a 4 letter designation, I can't recall what it is. It starts with an H. The cable guy saw mine laying on the floor, he put it in and bingo! Showroom, demo colors. He had to do some adjustments with the Television remote, but after seven months, I finally had true Hi-Def.

Oops. That was for my TV, not a monitor.

Answer:
I advocate you read the Television manual, it will tell you how to do it and what cable you want.

Answer:
It think you need to upgrade your video card as well

There are two known Personal computer to TV connectors, and they’re HDMI and RGB connectors. make sure you have the appropriate one
