How do I get my IPOD to place on my LCD tv?

I tried plugging it in in the USB port, but I don't think that's right. So I purchased an apple video cord for ipods. I plugged it into my tv..and I don't know what to do from there. Do I change to a certain channel?

this site will give you an ipod just for completing some swift on the internet tasks! really advocate it, especially if you're broke but really want an ipod (like me).
