ALSO IS THERE ONE THAT COMES with a built in CD player in it ?
Answer: I used to have a web site that compared the 2 tv's but i dont know what it is. Try to google that question. Off hand i know that a plasma tv has some type of gas in it and it generates more heat in your room. Also the picture isn’t as sharp. Thats all i know. I do remember comparing the 2 kinds before I purchased a tv and i ended up buying an
LCD tv which i love because it had better features and superior tv quality.
Answer: I don't really remember the difference, but I can tell you that there is more glare on a plasma than an
LCD. That said, I’ve a beautiful plasma on an east wall with bay windows to the south and there isn't any glare at all. The picture is fabulous and I wouldn't trade it for anything. However, if you have small kids, if a ball were to hit the plasma, it would shatter and that would be the end of that.
Answer: ooh I know this one … no I havent found one with a CD player yet. I wanted to find one with Blu-Ray as well. The difference between
LCD and Plasma there are a variety of things. Personally, I like
LCD. Reasoning … Plasma is heavier so sometimes hard to hang up on a wall. Plasma has a “ghost effect” which means when it switches from one commercial to another, you can still see the images of the last commercial … I forget the other reasons (I just asked the question why is it I’ve a bad memory?) a few mins ago on here so yikes. BUT I do know when I compared the two of them on the internet, I actually asked this question as well on YA! but found much more info typing it in a search engine, I found that
LCD would be more preferable. Now Im starting to remember … Plasma may be
Cheaper. Both have the same life span. Both have relatively the same viewing angle. Plasma comes in bigger tv's than
LCD screens, but bigger
LCD screens are being manufactured and you can find an
LCD you want at practically any size now.
LCD consumes less energy (one of the reasons I care about it most). However, Plasma has brighter colors (which explains why it consumes more energy). And those are the honest main differences. Not thought, but actual fact Im glad I was able to remember. Hope you can use this information, I'll update it if I remember more =).
Update - Plasma is bigger than LCD. For example, it would be 3 inches thick opposed to 2 inches thick for LCD.
Update2 - Plasma is harder to ship due to its weight and more massive size, and I believe it breaks easier (I forgot the actual reasoning why LCD is more hardier if you were to drop it for example).
Update3 - LCD screens can be fixed (but its expensive and you're superior off buying a new one, so this difference doesnt really matter)
Also - you can turn your LCD tv into a personal monitor with an S-Video card. Though itmight be best if you just purchase a massive LCD computer monitor and turn it into a tv. It will cost twice as much though ($800 for 42″ LCD tv and $1200 for 42″ LCD Monitor). But with the personal monitor you can browse the internet, and watch tv in two separate windows at same time. I like the monitor personally cause of less hassle more options, but with the holiday season coming up, you can get Cheaper LCD tv's (32″ for $400).
Also2 - I have a friend who purchased a 42″ Plasma. His parents had a 42″ LCD. His parents LCD was hanging on their wall, and his Plasma was on a stand … he ended up taking the Plasma back cause he didnt like the picture on it. He's very picky though. I played a video game on it and I loved it. At that 42″ size, your entire peripheral view is on the tv. You actually have to shift you eyes and you feel as if you are that shooter in the game. I dont pay attention to the graphics and all that cause they were beautiful, plasma or LCD. I suggested him to purchase the LCD which I told him to do from the get go! He gets the Plasma and ends up returning it go figure.
