i have an Samsung LCD with HDTV 1080i.

do i still need a converter box?

You only need that box if…

1. Have a tv without a digital tuner/ATSC

AND

2. You use an antenna

Both must be answered YES in order to require a box.

If you have cable, you need not worry

You should post the model number. If you are actually receiving HDTV off the air now, then you don’t need a converter, you’re already receiving digital signals. If your TV was “HDTV Ready” (ie it is an older set) and you don’t have an HDTV tuner (you are still watching analog TV) then you may need a converter. If you are getting reception through cable or satellite, you’ll not need a converter.
