and if so, is it just a matter of plugging in something like a skybox or freeview box to pick up the signal? do these also pick up analogue signals or just digital?

Answer:
You can get LCD TV's without digital tuners - but they are not popular. Also, you can get an analogue signal as they tend to have a socket for a coaxial cable.

However, although my TV has an integrated digital tuner, it has an option for analogue signal…

Why don't you want an integrated TV? It's less hassle and simpler to use.

Answer:
Analog signals will soon disappear, so you will need an integrated tuner to be able to get the FREE views for FREE, that is the land based ones, if you want more then you can PAY for Sky or what ever , So if you really want a model that will be out of date in a year or so ask at the shop for an obsolete one.

Answer:
A Television has a tuner by definition. No tuner, no Television.

You can buy large screens, just put “large monitor” into Google.

These can have any input from PC, DVD, Sky box etc.

But you might as well purchase a large screen Television as the price is about the same. Get one with a digital tuner, obviously!

Answer:
you probably can but it is very rare as the majroity of t.v.;s ahve the tuner's built in, becuase of the digital switchover.

and yes just plug in a aerial to your freeview box to get a signal, and you will also get terrestial as well.(analgoue)
